After months of prep, years of hard work by Dempsey, the time has finally arrived. A certain someone officially "graduated" from Cub Scouts and will be going on to Boy Scouts!! He has been chomping at the bit ever since he camped with the scouts last November. And now the time is here. His first troop meeting is tomorrow.
Is there anyone else who is following the Iditarod(http://www.iditarod.com/)? We are doing this for school. What a fun way to learn about the beautiful state of Alaska! I am so addicted to the web page that tracks the musher using GPS technology. It is constantly up on my laptop, we(I) check it multiple times a day. And oh, if one of the mushers we are watching stops mid-way between a check point...that is cause for worry and specualtion. Why did Dallas Seavey stop for almost 3 and 1/2 hours yesterday on his way to Nikolai? And wow. Seeing him go from 8th to 22nd to 4th!!!I wish we could see some of the comings and goings on TV. Perhaps we should move to Alaska! We are watching Dallas Seavey(and rooting for Mitch too), Jim Lanier, and Debruin. We use push pins on a map to show their progress and the boys love telling their dad where "his" musher is. We did this a few years ago, but are having way more fun with it now. Maybe next year we'll have to be "Insiders".
