Yesterday the boys and I caught up to hubby. Or should I say, he caught up to us, since we got to CA first! As you can imagine, there were lots of stories to share. And now it's time to catch up with you.
First, let me ask for you to pray for my neighbor's daughter. She was in a bad car accident late last week. She is going to be OK, but it sounds like she will have a long road of recovery. Please pray for healing and strength for her. I know she and her family would appreciate any prayers said for her.
Below is a sign displayed at Golden Spike National Historic Site. Now 10 miles may not see like much, but the work these men had to do to lay down the first railroad through the Sierra Nevada is crazy.

This is how the engines now sit during the day, facing each other where ceremonial Golden Spike(and Iron Spike, and Silver Spike, and Gold Spike) was laid. There is a 20-star flag displayed at the scene despite the fact we were a 37 state country in 1869. Why would that be??? There is a cut story about twhy that is. If you want to know, ask us when we get back home. :)

Friday we went to Golden Spike and began our drive to California. We made it a little way into Nevada, then got up, and finished the drive to Sacramento on Saturday. I don't have any pictures to show you of how northen Nevada looks. But maybe this will give you a feel:
NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING
Now, I do not mean to offend anyone living in Nevada, especially since I hope to see later this month. However, the northern part of the state is well, brown and boring, so no pictures. We will be going into the southern tip of NV in about a week, so I am hoping that will change our opinion.
Today was out first full day in California. It was sunny in Sacramento to start, but then half way to San Francisco it became cloudy. This is a picture of Fairfield, CA of some plam trees! Faifield is the home of the.....

Jelly Belly Factory. This is a mosiac they have displayed of our late jelly-bean loving president, Ronald Reagan.

Here is another creation, wisely put behind glass. Would this work for a birthday cake?

Next stop was Point Reyes National Seashore. I have a feeling there are some really scenic views but it was a very gray day. This picture was taken approximately 30 miles from the actual "point" of Point Reyes and you can see how cloudy it is. This view was pretty. You could hear the waves crashing against the shore. It was a bit chilly and breezy however.

Now, I doubt this is our friend from Antelope Island. But maybe that guy called his cousin to welcome us to the Seashore today!

The mist and fog were so dense at the lookout point, that the everything just got wet and damp, including the plants.

The lighthouse was actually closed when we got there. After seeing this sign, I can't say we were too dissappointed about missing this walk.

Point Reyes has strong wind, gusts have been clocked at 133 mph. I think perhaps this tree has been affected just a bit!

Our adventures will continue now that we are all together. Hubby is obsessing about us being in San Francisco tomorrow late afternoon since there is a 49'ers game tomorrow. Once he realized the time change and that football games he thinks start at nine really start at 6, he is convinced we will be sitting in traffic forever tomorrow. Perhaps he is right and we will sit, and sit, and sit in traffic. It would just make us feel like we were trying to get down 270 in the AM! Hubby is right about one thing, I never even gave football schedules a second thought.!
Yay! Everyone together in California! Hope the traffic isn't bad, and if you are stuck, at least maybe you will have beautiful views??? Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip. Safe travels and hugs all around!
